This prison was originally built as a fortress in 1840, but from 1919 to 2004 it functioned as a prison. As Estonia joined the European Union, they shut it down. Since then, it has been left basically untouched (except for the occasional Estonian rave) and you can walk around inside to check it out and appreciate your freedom.
